Toby tries to talk some sense into Caleb. Will it work?
The episode begins with "Previously on Pretty Little Liars." I'm already like:
Yet I persevere like my mama raised me to do. Moving on. We open with the Liars outside the police station, getting ready to tell the truth. Just then, Emily notices a storefront with a bunch of TVs bugging out. It shows a picture of Ali with the words "We're All in This Together" and switches to a live feed of the Liars. They decide they can't come clean and turn away from the police station:
Next, Emily and Spencer are at the Brew. Em suggests that maybe Ali was behind the message from the TV screen:
I agree. Meanwhile, Hanna arrives home to Caleb, who is asleep and freaks out when she kisses him on the forehead because he fell asleep after downing a bunch of vodka. He says alcohol helps him when he can't sleep:
Anyway, she tells him what happened at the police station and leaves. Aria arrives home, and Mona is there with Mike. Lame.org. Aria complains to her dad about Mike and Mo and says it's a bad idea. Riiiiiiiiight, this coming from the girl who was having a highly inappropriate affair with her high school teacher:
Byron says he'll keep an eye on the relationship, and then we see Em go to Ezra and ask him to look into Cyrus.
The next day, Hanna asks Spence for help regarding Caleb's drinking. Across the school, Em and Paige are talking. Ugh. Listen, back in the day, I used to be #TeamPaige, but she's no longer interesting and now has the personality of a plate of broiled broccoli, so if they get back together, I'll pretty much be:
Spence and Hanna are hanging out. After they plan on Toby confronting Caleb about his drinking, the girls discover a note from Melissa. She's skipping town AND WE STILL DON'T KNOW HER DAMN SECRET:
Hanna, Aria, Em are trying to figure out if Ali made a deal with "A," and that's when Det. Tanner stops them on the street and wants to talk. She asks them who they think killed Bethany Young:
Where's Spence you ask? Making out with Toby and then trying to get him to help Caleb. Toby says it must be whatever happened in Ravenswood:
I mean Ravenswood was cancelle, so can we pretend it never existed and have Caleb go back to normal? Thanks!
Spence gets a package in the mail from Melissa. It's the video message Melissa recorded last episode. Spence watches it alone. In the vid, Melissa says she saw Spence the night Ali disappeared. She saw Spence with the shovel and then saw Ali's body, so she assumed that Spence killed Ali. So Melissa buried Ali's body...or so she thought. Turns out it was Bethany and Melissa ended up burying her alive!!!
Later that night, Spence meets up with Toby and Hanna. Caleb shows up, and Toby is just like:
re: Caleb's drinking and it's extremely awkward.
At the Brew, Em and Paige have an uncomfortable run-in. It's obvious that Paige is all dolled up with two coffees because she's on a date. REALLY? PAIGE CAN'T FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO BUY A LATTE OTHER THAN AT HER EX-GIRLFRIEND'S JOB?!
Aria meets up with the family for movie night at the theater. It turns out that Ella canceled, so Mona is there instead. Then Aria sees Paige rolling with her date, who is a broken-down mess. Seriously, Em is a million times hotter, so good luck with that, Paige! Anyway, Aria whispers something in Mona's ear, and then she storms out:
Caleb gets upset at Toby and leaves:
Toby asks Spence what was in the envelope, and she says it was the truth and that she doesn't know what to do with it. Let me guess: "A" has already stolen the footage, so don't worry about it, Spence:
Em is with Ezra. He has more info on Cyrus, which turns out to be pointless, I think, so we return to the movie theater. Mike asks Aria to go check on Mona—even though he probably should do that himself—and Mo is crying. They get over her sad feels and Mo admits that she had everyone on her side to protect against Ali, that she knows a few things about what happened in New York and that Ali will turn on the Liars once she doesn't need them anymore. She then goes, "Do you think Mike really likes me?"
Seriously, with everything that's going on, Mona thinks that anyone gives a damn about her garbage relationship with Mike? Girl, bye.
Spence is at home re-watching Melissa's video and looking sad. I absolutely do not care about this:
Meanwhile, Aria and Byron are talking when there is a knock at the door. It's Det. Tanner. She tells him that she's certain Aria is involved in the homicide and that one of the Liars is coming to the police station tomorrow to tell the truth but won't tell Byron which girl it is:
Caleb is home and starts packing, and that's when Hanna surprises him. He's mad about the intervention, but she tells him he needs help and that she will fight for him:
Aria tells Spence and Em what Tanner said to her dad. They think Ali is the one going to the police. Em says they can stop her by showing Tanner the photo of Ali and Cyrus at the ATM. That's when Spence says she has to show them something, and I'm praying that the video hasn't been stolen:
Caleb tells Hanna what happened in Ravenswood, and it involves a Ouija board, which allowed him to see another world...
...Hanna says she's going to help him through this, they kiss—AWW!—and then the Ouija board moves by itself:
Surprisingly, "A" hasn't stolen the video, and Spence shows it to Aria and Em. Then Spence suggests that it was always somebody's idea for Bethany to take Ali's place because why else would those two be wearing the exact same outfit?
And then Emily goes, "We have to figure out a way around that picture of 'A' at the hospital,"
Em says calling Ali "A" was just a slipup. Um, OK.
We end with Hanna on the phone while Caleb sleeps and there are a bunch of fireflies outside his window:
Seriously, that's what we're left with?! Fireflies?! What does any of this mean? This show is pushing me to me limit, but someone is going to die in the finale, so maybe this will all be worth it?
