Is there anything Karlie Kloss can't do? Aside from her day job (her words) as a supermodel, she makes cookies with Momofuku Milk Bar that aid world hunger via FEED Projects, partners with Code.org in an effort to get more women coding, is enrolled at NYU, and designs the Forever Karlie denim collection with Frame Denim.
For today's purposes, we're focused on the latter: In celebration of Kloss's third year working with Frame, the brand has announced a pre-fall '15 addition to her two-style collection. Now, alongside the previously available skinny and flare styles, shoppers can fawn over the boyfriend jean. She told Glamour exclusively, "It's a little bit distressed and loose, really cool and sexy, but still fitted in the spots you want to be tight. It's a perfectly tailored loose fit."
With her denim trifecta complete, Kloss clearly knows her way around a pair of jeans. So, naturally, we sought her advice on what to try and what to avoid with our own. Here, the supermodel gives her four Dos and Don'ts of shopping denim.
Don't: Resemble another species.
"I'm all about tight, body-hugging jeans, but nobody likes a camel toe."
Do: Dress for your occasion.
"You can dress denim up or you can dress it down—it's so versatile. I have worn denim on the red carpet!" The one constant to keep in mind? "It comes down to finding the perfect fit."
Don't: Opt for overly destroyed.
"There can be a line with too much." Kloss's preference? "Not too distressed."
Do: Go high-waisted.
"It's really flattering, especially for someone who's taller and has longer proportions. The high waist makes you feel tucked in."
Kloss concludes dishing advice with an overarching rule, "For the most part, to each her own. You have to find what suits you and speaks to you—and what you feel good in! Finding the right pair of jeans is like having a great hair day. You know you can just slip em on and get an extra pep in your step." Amen, Karlie!
