Hi, I'm Allison Williams.

We're here today at my Glamour shoot,

and I thought I would share a couple tips

that I've picked up along the way

about being the ultimate girl's girl.

In a great girlfriend, I think

the qualities I look for are loyalty, honesty,

I think empathy is huge because,

as a girl, I feel entitled to say that often,

we think we want honesty but what we just want

is for someone to tell us, No, no, no, you look great!

You look perfect, you look amazing.

In my personal experience with friends

who've maybe had boyfriends that I didn't love,

I think you kind of just have to give them space

to figure it out, and you have to take their word for it.

If they say the guy they're dating is fabulous,

and treats them well and with respect,

then what do you have to object to?

I mean, if you witness the guy being mean,

then, I mean... If anyone's ever mean to my friends

hell hath no fury. (laughs)

One thing I've definitely learned,

if you have a girlfriend who breaks up with a boyfriend,

sort of start soft with the boy bashing,

because sometimes they get back together.

And then he's around all the time again,

and she knows exactly how you feel about him,

and that can be a little bit awkward.

So, be loving and nurturing in those moments,

and then you can have the hate parties later

when you're sure they're not getting back together.

I think to be a good wing-woman,

you have to really be selfless,

and you have to be spontaneous.

And just be sort of enthusiastic and a cheerleader,

like, Yes, we should go to that eighth bar,

because you know what, these past seven could have sucked

for some reason, I'll never understand,

it's not the same people, we absolutely should go

down to the Meatpacking District from the Upper East Side.

100 percent, and no, I'm not tired

because three A.M. doesn't matter to me.

Even though all those things are true,

and I would hate that night, I would love my friend

so if that's what she needs, I'm there for it.

I think if a friend messes up,

or if something happens and you really need to be honest,

then you need to buffer it with a lot of love.

If my character, Marnie, were doing it,

it would be very straightforward and she would call them out

in the moment, instantly, and with a lot of judgement.

But I think it should be handled a little more gently.

And of course, if it doesn't matter,

don't bring it up.

My all-time favorite chick flick...

Oh, man.

It's hard.

I don't know if Love, Actually counts,

it's just a romance set in Christmas, in the U.K.

I love A Lot Like Love,

with Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet.

Notting Hill is the best, I'm... it's just... amazing.

Yeah, I mean, I like any chick flick honestly.

I really do.

Even if I know how it's going to end,

I still want to watch it happen.
