How to Do a Fishtail Braid: Hey, Hair Genius Shows you the Perfect Hairstyle to Try When You’re Short on Time

I'm Theodore, beauty editor at large here at Glamour.

I've got my gorgeous model, Nicole,

and I'm gonna show her a really fun style.

It's gonna be a fishtail braid

'cause she wanted something that she could do

in three minutes or less.

Not only am I gonna show it on her,

but I'm gonna take it out and make her recreate it.

The first thing to do is split the hair

into two equal sections on the side.

Now I'm gonna take a piece about an inch,

inch and a half thick, from the left to the center,

and then pull a piece from the outside right to the center.

Just repeat this, alternating all the way down.

The big difference between this and every other braid

is that you're using two sections instead of three.

I'm taking a piece from the outside,

taking it to the inside center, and repeating.

And I'd like to keep it a little tighter

in the beginning, and you can loosen it later.

I'm gonna finish it by using a elastic

on the ends to secure it, and you can loosen it.

If you wanna be really fancy you can go reverse.

So, basically from down up, just to give it nice texture.

All right!

Three minutes or less.
