Dating Advice From…the Property Brothers! Drew and Jonathan's Texting Tips, and What They Notice About Women

Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott (better known as the Property Brothers) are talented, attractive, and successful. Who better to give us a little insight into the male mind? We asked America's favorite bros to share some dating advice. See their best tips on texting, first dates, and more below. 1. What's your advice for when you really like a new guy and want to call him, text him, or make plans with him but feel like it's better to wait for him to contact you first? Drew: I'm not one to play mind games. I say, if you like someone, then show them. Just don't get too attached too fast as that's not healthy for anyone. Any strong relationship needs time and space to flourish. The important thing is that you feel confident and comfortable by yourself before getting into a relationship. 2. What's the best way to bring up something that's bothering you without sounding like the dreaded "jealous" (or worse, "crazy") girlfriend? Jonathan: The best way to bring something up is to do just that: Bring it up and have a mature conversation. I respect anyone who can be honest and open about what they're feeling. The worst

  1. What's your advice for when you really like a new guy and want to call him, text him, or make plans with him but feel like it's better to wait for him to contact you first? __

__Jonathan:__The best way to bring something up is to do just that: Bring it up and have a mature conversation. I respect anyone who can be honest and open about what they're feeling. The worst thing you can do is not say anything but punish the guy for something he may not be aware he is doing that is upsetting you. Simply have the talk, but don't go in with conclusions already drawn.

3. What's the best way to give a man criticism without offending him? For example, if he drives way too slow or wears too-short pants?

__Drew:__Give it to him straight. I admit that most women have a better sense of style than some men. So if you notice something you think can boost our style points, tell us! If the intention is to truly give constructive criticism and not just a sly remark, then we'll take notice of that. Hey, men typically DO want to look good for their ladies :)

Jonathan: Start with a compliment and then follow with the constructive advice and offer some suggestions. No one likes to be told something negative by a girl they're interested in, but if it comes across as genuinely caring rather than nagging, then a smart guy will know how to handle it.

4. What do you notice first about a woman?

Jonathan: I like someone who isn't afraid to be adventurous and have a little fun. Sometimes this comes through in style, so I'd say that the outfit is only one of the first things I notice.

Drew: It's HOW she wears it. Her smile and confidence, the way she carries herself, is what I notice first.

Pretty straightforward, right? Thanks, J+D! Stay tuned for more tips from Drew and Jonathan (this time, for your home) over on Toast later this week.
