From the guy who demanded a kiss because he'd bought my $12 meal to the man who revealed mid-dinner that not only was he still married, but he was leaving his wife because she was ill, I've had my fair share of bad dates. Then I read through this Reddit thread and realized I'm one of the lucky ones. I've highlighted some of the best—and by best, I really mean worst—stories for your amusement below. But read with caution: These tales are enough to make you want to take a vow of celibacy and never date again.
— "I showed him a picture of my dog on my phone; he took out his phone and showed me a picture of his penis," writes one female poster. Of course, she called valet for her car and fled. "He texted me later that he had my sweater — apparently I dropped it on the way out — and if I wanted to see it again I'd have to hang out with him. RIP, sweater."
— "I went out for dinner and a movie with a guy. I tried to chip in money at both, but he insisted that he cover it all. At the end of the night, we're sitting in his car in the parking lot of the restaurant we had just eaten at, and he asks for a BJ, saying, I mean, I bought you dinner and took you to a movie, it's the least you can do.'" The poster says she hopped out of the car and walked home.
— "His brakes give out and we end up having an accident," writes another poster. "We ran into the back of a truck pretty hard. … He goes, Oh this is bad, really bad.' So I said, Why? No insurance?' He says, No, I have a warrant for my arrest.' He gets out of the car and runs. As he's running into the sunset, he's yelling back at me, I'm really sorry, but I can't afford to go to jail again.'"
And to be fair, dudes reported having some pretty awful dates too:
— "[I] took a girl to movies," writes one male poster. "She asks, Can my best friend come too?' I say, Of course,' trying to be nice. [She] shows up with her friend, who is indeed a guy. This is when I find out that he's her one-and-only ex."
— "About 10 minutes after picking a girl up, she asked me to pull to the side of the road … and then proceeds to sh-t in front of my car," writes another poster.
— "We spent most of the date going shopping for clothes for another date she had later that week," writes another guy. "Which was kinda funny, seeing as how she was the one that asked me out."
